The nominations for the 78th Writers Guild of America (WGA) Awards have been announced. In the Television Animation category, the nominees are:
“Abe League of Their Moe” (The Simpsons), Written by Joel H. Cohen, Fox
“Don’t Worry, Be Hoopy” (Bob’s Burgers), Written by Lindsey Stoddart, Fox
“It’s a Beef-derful Life” (The Great North), Written by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin & Wendy Molyneux, Fox
“Parahormonal Activity” (The Simpsons), Written by Loni Steele Sosthand, Fox
“Scared Screenless” (Futurama), Written by Bill Odenkirk, Hulu
“Shira Can’t Cook” (Long Story Short), Written by Mehar Sethi, Netflix
The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, and Futurama have all won this award multiple times before, although the latter's last victory was back in 2010. While Long Story Short is a newcomer, it's far from the first WGA-nominated show with ties to creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. Bob-Waksberg's BoJack Horseman won this accolade on three separate occasions. Tuca & Bertie, which Bob-Waksalberg executive-produced, also scored a win for creator Lisa Hanawalt. The Great North, which has a few Bob's Burgers alumni in common, ended its five-season run last year. Ironically, its first WGA nomination was for the final episode, "It's a Beef-derful Life."
The 78th Writers Guild of America Awards will be held on March 8, 2026.
