About the Author
A member of the Phoenix Film Critics Society and the Hollywood Creative Alliance, Nick Spake has been professionally writing movie reviews for more than fifteen years. On a more personal level, he’s been a film critic since seeing The Nightmare Before Christmas at age three. It’d be his first five out of five stars review, commencing a cinematic journey. Regularly writing for WatchMojo and MsMojo since 2014, Nick covers a variety of topics, animation and awards being his areas of expertise.
He combined his two passions by writing Bright & Shiny: A History of Animation at Award Shows. Four years of writing, research, and interviewing nearly 200 industry professionals amounted to a tome that couldn’t be condensed into one book. It had to be split into multiple volumes. Even then, Nick was compelled to keep the conversation going. He created CartoonContender.com, a site dedicated to animation, awards, and everything in between.
