123 entries have been submitted for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance at the 78th Primetime Emmys. This is nineteen fewer than last year, when Julie Andrews ultimately won for her narration as Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton. Andrews has been submitted again this year. Of the submissions 123, sixteen are from live-action programs:
Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown: Bridgerton
Will Arnett as Sweet Tooth: Twisted Metal
H. Jon Benjamin as The Void: Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
Josh Brolin as George Washington: The American Revolution
Jemaine Clement as Cat: It's Florida, Man
Stephen Colbert as Starfleet Academy's Digital Dean of Students: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
Jeff Goldblum as Henry David Thoreau: Henry David Thoreau
Samuel L. Jackson as Xander the Shark: The Boys
Eric Jacobson as Miss Piggy: The Muppet Show
Seth MacFarlane as Ted: Ted
Alfred Molina as Marcellus the Octopus: Remarkably Bright Creatures
Nick Offerman as Narrator: The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Stephen Root as Florida Man: It's Florida, Man
Joe Rumrill as Bibo: Color Theories By Julio Torres
Sarah Sherman as Sarah Squirm: Sarah Squirm: Live + In The Flesh
Matt Vogel as Kermit the Frog: The Muppet Show
As for voiceover performances from fully animated productions, here are some stray observations:
Trey Parker is submitted for voicing Satan in South Park, although Matt Stone is nowhere to be found. Too bad, as he could’ve been nominated for voicing Donald Trump or Jesus.
Guy Fieri could win an Emmy for voicing himself in The Robot Chicken Self-Discovery Special.
John DiMaggio and Billy West have once again been submitted for Futurama. Neither has ever been nominated. Just putting that out there.
Mike Judge, Seth MacFarlane, and Stephen Root each have three separate submissions across different programs.
While four King of the Hill actors were submitted, the late Jonathan Joss, who voiced John Redcorn, sadly wasn’t among them.
Nobody from the Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, The Great North, Sausage Party: Footopia, Smiling Friends casts bothered to submit here.
The most widely represented shows are The Simpsons and Solar Opposites, with eight submissions apiece, while Long Story Short has seven.
With Big Mouth over, Maya Rudolph isn’t submitted anywhere, meaning this will be the first time in six years she won’t be nominated here.
Andrews will more than likely get nominated again, along with at least one actor from The Simpsons. Probably Hank Azaria, who has had the best track record in recent years. Steven Yeun and Sterling K. Brown were previously nominated for their work on Invincible. If the trend of Invincible actors getting nominated continues, Sandra Oh or J.K. Simmons could break through for their internet-breaking scene this season. Since South Park had an especially trendy year, Trey Parker could get his second nomination in this category for voicing Satan. He was last nominated in 2026 for voicing Eric Cartman and PC Principal. With Long Story Short being such an ensemble piece, they should make room for a cast member, with Abbi Jacobson arguably being the standout.
As of now, here are My Predictions for who will make the final lineup:
Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown: Bridgerton - “The Waltz”
Hank Azaria as Gary Chalmers: The Simpsons - “Keep Chalm and Gary On”
Abbi Jacobson as Shira Schwooper: Long Story Short - “Shira Can’t Cook”
Seth MacFarlane as Ted: Ted - “Mrs. Robichek”
Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson: Invincible - “Give Us a Moment”
Trey Parker as Satan: South Park - “Sermon on the ‘Mount”
Other Potential Contenders:
Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter: Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 - “Chapter Three: Evolution”
Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill: King of the Hill - “Any Given Hill-day”
Samuel L. Jackson as Xander the Shark: The Boys - “The Frenchman, The Female, And The Man Called Mother's Milk”
Patti LuPone as Patti Lupony: Kevin - “Kitten Season”
Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson: Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord - “Chapter 8: The Creeping Fear”
J.K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man: Invincible - “Give Us A Moment”
