The nominations for the 2026 Astra TV Awards have been announced. In the Best Animated Series category, the nominees are Family Guy, Hazbin Hotel, Invincible, Long Story Short, The Simpsons, and South Park. Invincible won this award last year for its third season. While the acclaimed adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic series could repeat here for its fourth season, South Park has dominated the zeitgeist as of late with its recent batch of Trump-centric episodes. Invincible picked up two additional nominations for Steven Yeun and J. K. Simmons’ performances. Another Prime Video animated series, Vivienne Medrano’s Hazbin Hotel, also received two voiceover nominations for Alex Brightman and Stephanie Beatriz. 

The one newcomer in the mix is the family dramedy Long Story Short from BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. Also among the nominees are two longstanding primetime animation staples: The Simpsons and Family Guy. Speaking of Seth MacFarlane shows, his live-action series Ted was nominated in the Comedy Series category, as well as Comedy Writing and Directing. MacFarlane’s voiceover performance as the titular teddy bear was singled out, too. The Astras etch out a separate category for anime, this year’s nominees including Dandelion, Mao, Rooster Fighter, Sakamoto Days, Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Witch Hat Atelier. Witch Hat Atelier got the most nominations of this bunch, with Anjali Kunapeneni and Joshua A. Waters’ voice work being singled out.

The 2026 Astra TV Awards will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Los Angeles. Winners will be selected by members of the Hollywood Creative Alliance, a voting body of critics, entertainment journalists, content creators, industry professionals, and creatives spanning television, film, and digital media.
